An educator's role in play-based learning
Running time: Approx. 50 mins
One of the most common catchphrases we all hear in ECE now is “Children learn best through play.” And as educators, we know and understand this.

  • But what exactly is our role as educators in play-based learning?
  • How much should we be involved vs observing?
  • How much should we be setting the environment or following the children’s lead?

The role of the educator in an ECE setting has evolved as underpinning theory has developed, and research into how children learn has advanced. It is now widely agreed that young children are capable, competent learners who can drive their own learning.

So, where does this leave the educator?

Watch Bridgit Williams to learn and;
  • Explore the territory between teacher-led and child-led learning in a play-based setting.
  • Debunk some myths about effective teaching practice and the role of the educator.
  • Develop understanding of how to effectively enact your role in a play-based setting.
