Leadership Clinic Part 6: Power Dynamics

This webinar is the final in a series of interactive leadership conversations, led by Barbara Watson and Bridgit Williams. Each session will have a leadership focus that will be illustrated by way of relatable scenarios. Participants will discuss the problems, issues and dilemmas in these scenarios and draw on leadership theory and experience to develop a range of appropriate responses to each situation.

The intention is to present everyday leadership situations and collectively problem-solve potential and implementable solutions.

The series will be structured around the following topics:

Setting and maintaining clear expectations
Coaching effective practice in others
Managing poor performance
Having difficult conversations
Understanding and working through power dynamics

In all ECE teams there are levels of power that will impact everyone. These dynamics can shift and change over time as new team members come and go. The dynamics of power in our teams can be subtle or overt. And they will have a strong impact on how our team members feel and perform in their role.

As leaders managing power dynamics is part of our responsibility. How do we impact others with our own power? And how do we maintain a balance of power that has a positive effect within our teams?
